During the early sixties the Hindi speaking residents of Perambur in general and the Jain Community in particular felt a great need for a school which would impart education to their young wards through Hindi medium. A school which would instil the teaching values and culture of the great Indian born religion viz. Jainism. The challenge was taken up by the members of the Jain Society of Perambur and a decision was taken to meet the genuine necessity of the students.
Shree Mahaveer Jain Hindi Vidyalaya was opened by the late Padma Bhushan Shri. Mohanmalji Chordia on the 26th January 1967 at the Jain Prayer Hall, No.91, Market Street, Perambur, Chennai - 600 011.
To begin with the school was mainly run on donations contributed by the philanthropic members of the Jain Society, Fees were not collected from the students, thereby making it a pioneer endeavour towards free education.
Smt. Chandabai Pagariya Jain Trust helps the poor students by awarding Scholarship every year. This was specially utilised for imparting religious instruction.
The school slowly expanded into other fields and in the year 1986 English medium classes were opened which have proved to be very popular among the people of Perambur. The School lays emphasis on religious, moral values discipline and an all round development.
The constructive and helpful role of the management committee members coupled with the dedication and sincere work of the staff have made progress the watch word of the school.
The Committee Members had decided to Shift Mahaveer Jain Hindi Vidyalaya and merge it with Smt. Chandabai Pagariya Jain Matriculation Higher Secondary School after completing the academic year 1997-1998. All the children had been shifted on 20-04-1998. Now the school is having pre K.G, L.K.G., U.K.G to XII Std.

Our School follows Matriculation syllabus of education from VI upto X Std, and State Board Syllabus for XI and XII Students.
